Purpose

Everything has purpose and a goal. Currently I am planning on going to the Czech Republic this summer as a summer intern for Josiah Venture, an organization whose vision is:

"To be part of a movement of God among the youth of Eastern Europe that finds its home in the local church and transforms society"

If you would like to learn more about Josiah Venture and their ministries, please visit www.josiahventure.com

So the purpose of this blog is to start reaching out to my possible supporters who could support me through prayer and/or finances, this blog will serve as a base of operation from myself to you. This is meant to keep everyone supporting me up-to-date on my financial status, current prayer requests, and most importantly praises from the Lord before the summer; and during the summer to provide updates, pictures, prayers, and praises of the Lord's work.

I have had past experience with the Czech, albeit only a small amount of experience. I had the amazing opportunity to go to the Czech Republic through a youth ministry class about planning a missions trip with youth, and at the end of the class (over Spring Break 2008) our class went to the Czech for 2 weeks. We were able to teach English at local high schools around the country, serve alongside youth groups and fellow national believers to proclaim the name of Christ to youth, and finally we were able to do a service project through remodeling of a house for missionaries.

A question you might have for me is: Why am I going to the Czech this summer?

Well, as you might know I am a Youth Ministry major at Moody Bible Institute. This summer I have to do a youth ministry internship that is focused around serving youth. I have an opportunity to do an internship here in the States, but if you do not know, 5% of the world's youth live in America and 95% of the world's trained youth workers are also in America. Which leaves 5% of the world's trained youth workers trying to reach and serve 95% of the world's youth!

With this being said I hope that you can understand why my heart has been led to serve in the Czech Republic this summer where less than 1% of the country's population is made up of Christ followers.

Another question you might have is: What I would be doing in the Czech?

Summer Internship

As a summer intern I would be helping lead evangelistic English Camps for Eastern European youth.I would be responsible for teaching conversational English, building relationships with the students attending, following up with those students, and running a variety of training activities relating to youth ministry.

I would serve on a team of 4 to 8 other interns under the leadership of an experienced JV staff member. Prior to the beginning of the camps I would attend a week of training for the summer in Eastern Europe, and finally at the end of the summer I would debrief with other interns with a time of testimonies and reflection. I am responsible for raising my own support as a faith missionary.

The final question you might have for me now is: What do I want from you?

At this point what I ask of you is twofold, first are your prayers. Officially I have not been accepted as a summer intern, but according to my guide from my spring 08 trip I will be accepted due to my past experience and interest in Eastern European youth. So please pray for me in my endeavor to serve the youth in the Czech Republic.

Second is your consideration to support me financially to go on this trip. The trip lasts the entire summer (3 months) and I need a considerable amount of money (approximately $4500) to cover training, administration, in-field travel, airfare, lodging, and food. So please begin to pray and discuss for your participation in the Lord's will for my life through giving financially.

Lastly I would ask you to pray for me now for:
  • My heart to mirror the Lord's heart!
  • My application to be accepted!
  • To be in the Word of God daily!
  • and "in all things acknowledge HIM, for He will direct my path!"
Thank you so much for you time,
In Christ,
Nicholas Walborn
